The Book of Hebrews Chapter 4 NIV
The book of Hebrews is nestled between Paul’s prison letter to Philemon (The Book of Philemon) and James’, Brother of our Lord JESUS (Mark 6: 3 NIV), letter to the “Twelve tribes scattered among the Nations (James 1:1).”
The fourth chapter of the Book of Hebrews highlights GOD’s promise of a Sabbath-Rest for HIS people – those who believe in HM, and obey HIS word.
The promise of a Sabbath-Rest encapsulated in verse 9 reads “There remains, then, a Sabbath-Rest for the people of GOD; for anyone who enters GOD’s rest also rests from their works, just as GOD did from HIS. Hebrews 4:11 encourages the faithful – “Let us, therefore, make every effort to entertain that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.”
We are assured that GOD empathizes with our weaknesses for HE too has been subjected to every temptation but HE prevailed (v15).
Therefore, we must “approach GOD’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy, and find grace to help us in our time of need (v16).
