The Book of Acts and Baal-perazims is a series of theological discourse that elucidates and demonstrates the teachings of CHRIST in first century Judea.
“Acts” or “The Book of Acts” with the expanded title, “The Book of the Acts of the Apostles” or “The Acts of the Apostles,” authored by Luke the Physician Evangelist, is the fifth book, in chronological order, of the New Testament Bible. It captures and illuminates the activities of our Lord and Savior, JESÚS the CHRST’s disciple anno Domini (when CHRIST was alive), and apostles Christus resurrecxis (CHRIST is risen).
While narratives generate from the contemporaneous and spiritual lived experiences of the disciples and apostles, the spotlight is on two individuals – Peter and Paul, the later more so than the former. The Book of Acts is a must read for nascent Christians who must build and grow their faith in JEHOVAH and HIS Son, JESÚS; sinew on flesh, meat on bones (Ezekiel 37:6).
From the spectacular encounter that amplifies the potency and efficacy of covenant prayer à la Holy Spirit visitation (Acts 2:1-4) to the enduring legacy of Paul’s vessel run aground on the “Island called Malta (Acts 27: 41 [Christian population: >97%, 2026 i.e., 435,000 of 450,000]).
For the Christian, whose conversion is in the single- or double-digit year(s), the book of Acts is littered with “”Baal-perazims” (2 Samuel 5:20, 1 Corinthians 14: 11, Isaiah 28:21)” that burnish the truth of Christian ministry winning souls in dizzying numbers to the Kingdom. This phenomenon persists to this day.
Exemplar Baal-perazims include the 40 year old man, lame from birth who walked+ jumped+ ran in an instance sans the traditional learning curve of crawl -> stand-> walk -> run (Acts 3:1-10, 4:22), Peter freed from prison (Acts 12:5-17), Paul and Silas’ earthquake (Acts 16:25-34), etc.
What would you say are your Baal-perazim moments in the Book of Acts? What would you say are your Baal-perazim moments in your walk with CHRIST?
